Baby Raul Franscico
Saturday, May 5th, 2012, No Comments »

Raul Francisco is one of the many children who have been blessed by God at the Tessa Grace Nutrition Center. His story was recorded earlier this year. He was initially admitted to the hospital in Dondo for IV fluids to get his strength up. Today he is continuing to grow strong as a result of the care he receives at Tessa Grace. Raul Francisco, and many like him, reveals the reason why we do what we do. Please continue to pray with us for the Tessa Grace Nutrition Center as it seeks to keep children alive and provide aid to their mothers.

Day at Tessa Grace
Monday, April 2nd, 2012, No Comments »

Have you ever wondered what a day at the Tessa Grace Nutrition Center was like? Each day at Tessa Grace time is set aside for meditation on God’s word. The mornings are busy with bible study then a time of teaching the mothers good nutrition and how to best care for their babies. The babies are assessed and the mothers are encouraged!

The afternoons are busy as Tessa Grace staff make home visits to check on the babies. Their purpose is to assess the home situation. Are the moms boiling the water for formula? Are they actually giving their babies the medications that were ordered? Are they caring for their sick babies; or are they leaving them with older children so they can work in the fields?

These home visits are very necessary and have proven to be the most beneficial method for reinforcing the teaching done at the Tessa Grace Nutrition Center. Each day Tessa Grace is focused on Christ. They share His love through teaching and praying. Will you pray with us for the staff of Tessa Grace today?

Baby Michael Thelma Mauel
Sunday, February 26th, 2012, No Comments »

Teresa is the mother of Michael Thelma Mauel as well as two other children. She was sick for 10 years prior to having Thelma. But after giving birth, Teresa had difficulties producing enough milk for Thelma.   Thelma was brought into the Tessa Grace Nutrition Center at 4 months weighing 3kg (6.6 lbs). Before coming to Tessa Grace, Teresa could only feed her baby cornmeal and water. Today Michael Thelma Mauel weighs 7lbs; and according to his age, he is already above the average percentile!

Normally he would be graduated out of the program, but his health is not stable. The past few weeks, he has been in the hospital due to malaria, fever, headache, and weakness. He is not able to play or keep up with the other children.   Please pray for baby Thelma today.

Baby Patricia Manuel
Tuesday, January 31st, 2012, No Comments »

When Baby Patricia's mom was two months pregnant she went to the hospital for prenatal care and discovered that she was HIV positive. She was very upset by the news and when she told her husband, he became nervous and kicked her out of the house saying she brought this disease home. So Star went to live with her brother. But two months later, she went home to visit her husband and he asked her to stay and take care of him as he was very ill. Unfortunately, he did not recover. He died leaving Star alone and 6 months pregnant. After Patricia was born, she could not feed on her mother’s breast milk because her mother was HIV positive. When Star brought Patricia to Tessa Grace for the first time, she weighed only 2.5kg (5.5 lbs). Now, 3 months later, Patricia weighs 5kg (11lbs).

But our story does not end here. Star Mario suffers from Elephantitis in the left foot (as you can see in the photo). With this problem she cannot walk long distances or work in the fields making it impossible to feed her two children. The neighbors and some relatives help when they can, but life is so hard for everyone and her neighbors and relatives cannot share what they do not have!

Will you pray for Star Mario and her two children today?

Ndiriro Needs
Friday, December 30th, 2011, 1 Comment »

Ndiriro is an orphan. His father died last year of HIV and his mother died shortly after giving birth to him. Now he lives with his grandmother and 3 siblings.

His grandmother is unable to work and a neighbor helps out when she can. Ndiriro’s grandmother is asking for prayer. She would like us to pray that she can store hot water for when Ndiriro wakes up during the night and wants a bottle.

Please pray for Ndiriro’s family and the many others this season who have no warm milk.

Ancha Cheila Manuel
Wednesday, November 30th, 2011, 1 Comment »

This time of year many people are without food. They have neither sweet potatoes nor rice to feed their families; so, many families choose to eat green mangos for lunch or a snack. But green mangos can cause major health problems in children. These children are hungry. And since they are starving they are not concerned about the long range health risks.

Ancha Cheila Manuel first came to Tessa Grace on February 22, 2011.  Her mother states that “she really didn’t think that Tessa Grace could help her daughter, but then she looks at her today and sees that it was possible.” In November, Ancha will be a year old and she currently weighs 9.5 kg which is a little over 20 pounds!

Like all the mothers and babies who are helped through Tessa Grace Nutrition program, miracles happen all the time!!! Each day they have been blessed with life is a miracle!

Join us in praising God for providing the opportunity to serve Him through serving these babies.   We are thankful for each of you this Thanksgiving.  We could not bring aid to these malnourished babies without your support!

Have a great Turkey Day!
