About the Program
In Myanmar, many parents work all day in the rice fields and are too busy, poor, and tired to send their children to school. Because of ongoing civil war and widespread corruption, these families and their children face constant fear and hardship. The public school system is largely broken, and many children have never stepped inside a classroom.
Lian and Lunnu Thang, CRI International Missionary Partners in Myanmar, bring these children into our Shalem Christian Academy (SCA), teaching them not only how to survive, but to love God, love their neighbor, and become contributing members of society.
SCA gives children the attention and care they need. Over 50 children attend our preschool, playing games, learning their alphabet, and eating a hot lunch. Nutritious meals and attentive care give these little ones a bright start they wouldn’t otherwise have.
SCA also has over 70 children attending tutoring classes for Kindergarten through Grade 5. For many of these students, this is the only school they attend, but others come in the afternoons to supplement the poor quality education they receive at public school. Our Bible-based curriculum helps these students grow in knowledge and character as well as their academic performance. Specialized classes, like computer and music, are also offered.
Because of Shalem Christian Academy, students know that their lives matter—to us and their Heavenly Father.
How will your sponsorship help?
Your financial commitment will provide school supplies, hot meals, and a place to learn for students at Shalem Christian Academy. You will also help provide salaries for teachers, tutors, and cooks. Through you, children can learn and grow as children should, and their families can rest knowing they are in good hands.
Will you receive updates?
Yes! You will receive two updates a year about the children in our education programs worldwide.
