Errol & Igraima Zimmerman
Dominican Republic
Errol and Igraima both grew up on the island of Curaçao. They left to attend high school in Holland. After returning to Curaçao, they came to know Christ, and were married two years later in 1996.
They both worked at a Telephone company for many years while serving locally in their home church. Part of this service included frequently hosting visiting missionaries. God used this hospitality to open their eyes to the unmet needs—emotional and spiritual—of these missionaries.
In 2015, after going on their first mission trip to the Dominican Republic, they knew that God had plans for them to be involved in missions beyond their home in Curaçao. Once they returned home, they began to work with a ministry that cares for and encourages missionaries.
This ministry required them to travel to many different countries; however, God opened the door each year for them to serve in the Dominican Republic. With each visit, their desire strengthened to minister to the unseen people of the Dominican Republic. In 2018, God called them to move to the Dominican Republic to serve the La Joya neighborhood in the city Jarabacoa.
Over the past 6 years, the Zimmermans have established a ministry called IFEC: Instituto de Formacion y Educacion Cristiana. This ministry includes a preschool, after-school tutoring, and discipleship training. IFEC provides an environment that demonstrates God’s love and light in the midst of the bleak realities faced by locals and Haitian refugees.
